Lebensdauer von Alvey DVD

ct' Leser hätten es schon vorher gewußt: Aufkleber auf DVDs verkürzen die Lebensdauer der Scheiben ganz erheblich. Genau das Problem habe ich im Moment mit den Robb Alvey-Videos: Ich habe bei Ihm vor ca. einem Jahr die 2002 European Odyssee + Footage und die 2003 Coaster Season + Footage gekauft: Keine der DVDs läßt sich noch vollständig lesen. Frage: Hat jemand diese DVDs noch in funktionierend? (Einfach den Ordner VIDEO_TS auf die Festplatte kopieren, wenn das klappt, war die DVD noch in Ordnung).

Bei mir gibts bei den Robb-DVDŽs so langsam aber sicher auch diverse Abspielprobleme. 3 Videos auf der Season 2003-Park-DVD laufen nicht mehr richtig.

Ebenfalls Probleme, kann die DVDs teilweise gar nicht mehr lesen weil sich der Player einfach verabschiedet...

Sobald die neuen eingetroffen sind werd' ichs sie mir kopieren ...

Habt ihrs schon mit speziellen Tools probiert? Kommen zwar aus dem illegalen Millieu, aber dürften auch bei solchen Problemen hilfreich sein.

Der normale Windows Explorer hat beim kopieren keinerlei Fehlerkorrektur oder sonstige Hilfmittel um defekte Sektoren oder sonstiges zu lesen bzw wiederherzustellen.

Meine laufen noch wunderbar. Die sind jetzt auch schon älter als ein Jahr. Ich hab die immer am PC abgespielt, DVD Player hab ich nicht.

Ich habe auch Probleme mit den DVDŽs. Bei mir verabschieden sie sich nach ein paar Minuten und lassen sich nicht wieder abspielen. Mir ist aufgefallen , daß wenn der DVD-Player noch nicht warm gelaufen ist, die DVDŽs ohne Probleme laufen. Wenn er jedoch warm gelaufen ist gibt es bei mir Probleme.

Tja, müssen halt schon Ettiketten sein, die nicht so n Problem mit Wärme haben, dann geht das ohne Probleme... Daher verwende ich nur ganz normale Papier-Ettiketten. Geht ohne Probleme und kannst sie auch wieder ablösen ohne dass die DVD oder CD beschädigt wird.

I wish I could read this better, but I've been able to figure out that some of you are having problems with our DVDs over time. If you are having problems and your DVDs will not play, we will replace them!

Drop me an email and let me know, send us the non-working ones, and I'll replace them free of charge!

I know that DVD+Rs can be tempermental and I'll be happy to replace any DVDs that have stopped working.

Ich habe inzwischen schon Probleme einige DVDs bis zum Ende auf einem DVD Player abzuspielen.
Sobald der Kleber warm genug wird ist es vorbei mit dem Sehgenuss. Die einzig vernüftige Lösung ist die Aufkleber wegzulassen, allerdings ist das natürlich auch ein guter Kopierschutz

There seems to be a problem with the labels on your DVDs. The glue causes problems when getting warm.
You can not playback the full DVD at once in a computers DVD Rom (a nice copy protection by the way) and some people even cant playback the DVDs on a regular DVD Player. My brand sony DVD Player retirs reading the DVDs after about half an hour of playback.

A german computer magazine announced earlier that labels on DVDs reduces livetime.

So it may be a good idea to renounce on the labels in the future.

I was wondering if you havent figured out this yet.

Maybe it's a better idea to print directly on the DVD's surface, instead of using stick-on labels? (Of course you need printable DVD+/-R's, and a printer that's capable of printing on DVDs/CDs)

Interesting. If you ever want to get DVDs without labels, you may request that. I would hate to do the DVDs without the labels, because I think it does add to the 'packaging' and I've had very few 'returns' of DVDs that don't work. All of the returns I have gotten back has been due to a specific brand of blank not working, or the disc got scratched and I will replace that.

If the labels ever become a problem, I will stop using them, but so far I have yet to have someone return DVDs because of the labels.

Just also remember that you can request the DVDs without them and if you EVER have problems with one of our DVDs, even if you got them two years ago, we will always replace any bad DVDs.

And as for ripping them to your hard drive, if you want to do that as a back-up, I'm actually ok with that, too.

My DVDs still run well after 2 years. I never tried it with a DVD-Player, I only use the DVD-Drive in my PC.

Strange things I noticed sometimes they begin to jump and not playing chapters in the right order or will continue always the same chapter. But if I choose anyone from the menu it is fine. Another things some DVD players got problems with the last 2 or 3 chapters to play and the DVDs go to slowmotion or stop.

On PC and my own DVD-Recorder they working fine, but on standart DVD Players the last parts wont run. But I discover the same on some of my own made DVD without any labels ??
