New Pleasurewood Hills Park: 1st acquisition in Great Britain for Grévin & Cie

Zitat Plailly, 5 July 2004 - Grévin & Cie today announced the acquisition of Pleasurewood Hills, East of London, on the coast of Norfolk near Great Yarmouth. This regional amusement park, created in 1983 and geared to families, welcomed 250 000 visitors last year, for a turnover of 4.5 million euros. Grévin & Cie plans to relaunch the Park.

This new acquisition strengthens Grévin & Cie's European leadership in regional amusement parks (300 000 to 400 000 visitors), with a total of six. Pleasurewood Hills is joining Bagatelle (France), Avonturenpark Hellendoorn (Netherlands), Fort Fun and Panorama-park (Germany) and Aquaparc (Switzerland).

«We are delighted to integrate Pleasurewood Hills into our Company, as its personality, charm and local roots correspond so well to our strategy», says Grévin & Cie Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Olivier de Bosredon. «With our family entertainment concept and our methods, we are creating strong dynamics in our regional parks. Regional parks are a key asset towards our goal of becoming a European leader in family entertainment».

Theme park planning consultant Nick Laister of RPS assisted Grévin & Cie in sourcing the transaction. At the request of the parties, the amount of the transaction was not dislosed.

Über die zukünftigen Planungen
Zitat Oct. 22nd, 2004 -- Over the next five years, the owners of Pleasurewood Hills, an amusement park near Lowestoft, England, say that they will be assessing and redeveloping the park over the next five years.Among the improvements park owners have said they will carry out include changing the park's Main Street to a more nautical theme, painting the park's rides, and adding new eating areas with healthier food. Owners also stressed there would be no staff cuts. There could be more on the way, however. Although park owners have ruled out any new rides until 2006 at the earliest, the five year-long period might lead to large changes. Owners have also not commented how much money might be spent on improvements. The park is owned by Grevin and Cie, the company that owns France's Parc Asterix, along with 11 others.See EDP24 for more.
